Why invest in offsets?
Why plant trees?
It is stored in biomass – trunks, branches, foliage, roots, and so on – and in soil. Clearing forests not only eliminates these CO2 absorbers; cutting and burning trees and disturbing the soil also releases stored carbon into the atmosphere. According to estimates, deforestation accounts for at least 20 percent of annual global carbon emissions.
It also depletes natural resources and has a devastating impact on local and global biodiversity. Land conversion is the single greatest cause of terrestrial species’ extinction.
Forests also prevent natural catastrophes.
They stand as a bulwark against the otherwise devastating destruction of mud avalanches, tsunamis, soil erosion, droughts, and storms.
Why invest in offsets?
For every carbon credit that you buy from GreenLife CO2 (GCO2 ), you get one ton of emission reductions achieved in reduction processes and sustainable energy solutions. Reforestation initiatives, wind farms, biomass plants, hydroelectric projects, methane capture, plastic recycling – whatever project we propose we will ensure it is verified and certified. Count on it.
Our GreenLife CO2 team can afford you access to premium offset projects being developed by GreenLife Society and their long-standing partners.
Global contacts, quality assurance know-how, experience with every aspect of handling carbon credits from registration to retirement – our experts’ have all the skills required to put together the perfect purchasing package for you firm.
What we’ve done lately
Another project on the islands of Andaman and Nicobar, India, is all about recycling plastic. With no other means of disposal, islanders burn plastic or first dump it in landfills and then burn all the refuse. We set up a plastic recycling unit aimed to prevent land & air pollution. In 2020 We finally achieved our goal of getting plastics banned from the islands you can read our announcement here;
In a third initiative, also on Andaman island, we planted 300.000 mangroves to replace those destroyed by the 1994 tsunami. This project are especially important because mangroves have such a powerful impact on the local society and environment. They protect ecosystems on land and in the sea, as well as human communities are a huge significance to carbon sequestration.
Though some of our social and environmental projects do not earn carbon credits, they certainly provide much-needed support to their beneficiaries that’s why are our projects have always been Nature Based Solutions:
These conservation efforts include training people to perform all the many tasks that such protection entails and conduct education programs.
